AI Malaria Scan: Transforming Malaria Diagnosis with Artificial Intelligence in Mozambique

Malaria remains a leading cause of illness and death in Mozambique and across Africa. In 2023, there were 263 million cases and 597,000 deaths worldwide, with the WHO African Region accounting for the majority. In low-resource settings, rapid diagnostic tests are often scarce, limiting timely detection and treatment.

MozBioMed.AI has developed AI Malaria Scan, an AI-powered diagnostic application that leverages real-world patient data from Mozambique, including complete blood counts, sociodemographic information, and environmental factors, to accurately predict malaria. This innovative tool reduces dependence on limited rapid tests, allowing healthcare providers to triage and treat patients more efficiently, even in rural clinics.

The application is fully operational and ready for use in hospital and community health settings. A one-minute video demonstration showcases AI Malaria Scan in action, highlighting its practicality, speed, and potential impact on malaria management in Mozambique.

Impact

Faster, data-driven diagnosis, optimized use of scarce resources, and improved access to care for vulnerable populations.

We understand the importance of approaching each work integrally and believe in the power of simple.
